Brotherhood Social Innovation Competition

The Idea:

The Brotherhood is hoping to inspire and get youth fired up to help our community out. We are looking to help fund new social innovations that benefit the world. To help you get your idea get off the ground Brotherhood is giving out up to a $200 grant per idea that warrants the investment.

How to Apply:

Go to the temple website and fill out the following information via our online form (300 words max) describing:

·  What problem you are trying to solve

·  Who(m) you plan to help

·  What you plan to do and when you plan to do it by

·  Why you need $$$ – itemized account of how the money will be spent

Ideas can be as simple as organizing a creek clean up and asking Brotherhood to fund snacks for the volunteers. Other ideas can be larger such organizing a 3 on 3 tournament to raise money for a group. Food drives, recycled soap program...... be creative!

Open to:

Temple members currently enrolled in 5th grade through college. You can enter as a group or as an individual

Grand Prize:

May 2018 the Brotherhood will host an awards dinner to celebrate all of the great ideas and award the winning entry a $1,000 social innovation scholarship. Grand prize winner will be determined via online voting. Temple members will be able to review entries and vote on their favorite idea.

 

Having an issue thinking of an idea? Get a mentor! The Temple is filled with really smart folks that help you think of an idea or help you work through a problem. Reach out to brotherhood@templesanjose.org and give a general description of what you need help with – the Brotherhood will connect you with a mentor.

Brotherhood will begin accepting submissions on Sept 1, 2017. Grants will be awarded on the 15th day of the following month.
